Harland Braun, Bradley's attorney, said prosecutors and police will not be filing charges.
"The allegations against Milton Bradley were thoroughly investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office," Braun said in a statement early Friday afternoon. "Both agencies determined there was no basis to file charges and no charges were filed.
"As is customary in domestic cases, the City Attorney's Office has scheduled a private meeting with Milton and his wife to make sure that this type of misunderstanding does not occur again."
Bradley, who is coming off a knee injury, is due to report a week from Saturday to the Mariners' spring training camp in Peoria, Ariz. He will have to fight second-year outfielder Michael Saunders for playing time in left field this spring.
After originally being scheduled for a Feb 9 court date, Bradley found out Wednesday that the date was pushed back to March 9. Now that the charges have been dropped, he still has an obligation to undergo a private meeting with his wife and the Los Angeles City Attorney.
Bradley was not immediately available for comment, although there were suggestions he would be releasing a statement later in the day. It's expected that Bradley will not be giving interviews to the media this spring.
New Seattle manager Eric Wedge, who managed Bradley when both men were in Cleveland, had an adversarial relationship with the outfielder then. Wedge said he and Bradley, who lost a power struggle with Wedge while with the Indians, have talked over their past differences and the manager said "we can work together."
Braun, Bradley's attorney. said that Bradley and his family "request that the media respect their wish that the matter remain personal and private."
