Longtime major league umpire Jerry Crawford has retired, according to a report by the St. Petersburg Times.Crawford, who was worked in the major leagues for the last 34 seasons, has umpired five World Series and two All-Star Games. His 111 career postseason games were the most among active umpires, according to the Times.
Crawford, 63, is the son of former major league umpire Shag Crawford and the brother of NBA referee Joey Crawford.
According to the Times, Major League Baseball will make an official announcement once a suitable replacement is selected.
