MCCARTY FACES OLD MATES
Tonight?s match marks D.C. United captain Dax McCarty?s first game against his former club, FC Dallas. In five seasons with Dallas, McCarty scored five goals and tallied 18 assists in 93 games played. Dallas drafted the midfielder with the sixth pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, and he led the Texas side to MLS Cup 2010 in Toronto.
McCarty was acquired by D.C. United on November 24, 2010 after being drafted by the Portland Timbers with the first pick of the 2010 MLS Expansion Draft. The Black-and-Red sent defender Rodney Wallace and a 2011 fourth round SuperDraft selection to Portland in exchange for McCarty.
Said the former FC Dallas midfielder of facing his old club, "I made a lot of good friends at that organization, and it will definitely be different to play against [FC Dallas]. That said, I couldn't be happier to be with D.C. United and we are really starting to come together as a team, I know we are all looking forward to this game."
INJURY UPDATE
D.C. United Designated Player Branko Boskovic is set for surgery. The Montenegrin midfielder had his left knee injury confirmed this week by numerous physicians, as Boskovic sustained a torn ACL on April 26 against New England in a U.S. Open Cup play-in match. Midfielder Kurt Morsink has been upgraded to play following a concussion suffered against New England in that same match, while defender Rodrigo Brasesco will not feature tomorrow after picking up a bone bruise on his left knee. United's most recent injury report is now available in full.
YOUTHFUL TREND
May 4 marked only the third occasion in League history that an MLS side started four players 20 or younger in a regular season match. Homegrown players Bill Hamid (20), Andy Najar (18), Ethan White (20), and University of Akron product Perry Kitchen (19) all featured against Seattle Sounders FC in a 2-1 triumph. New York fielded four players 20-years-old or younger in 2005 on two separate occasions, but neither match yielded a victory.
